Dow STEM lab in Tisa National High School, Cebu

Tisa national High School is in Cebu City and enrolls around 3,000 students. Despite striving to provide higher quality education, some needed facility is still missing: a STEM laboratory for senior high school students.

The Senior high school students had to take STEM lab classes in corridors or under the shade of trees, sometimes in the classrooms or covered court with no proper laboratory and personal protective equipment, which exposed them to the dangers of burn and chemical injuries experiments.

Committed to advancing STEM learning in the community, in 2019, Dow Philippines and Philippines Business for Social Progress (PBSP) decided to take action by refurbishing the STEM laboratory and providing students with appropriate protective lab gears. We built a new laboratory facility and installed essential equipment such as cabinets, sinks, faucets, gas pipes, and water pipelines for the safety of the students. The new laboratory was completed and ready to use in 2020.

The turnover ceremony at TISA school took place virtually in February 2021. We are proud to be a part of supporting STEM education in our community.
