Dow employee’s COVID-19 response

Throughout the pandemic, the critical aspect of Dow’s COVID-19 response is employee engagement and volunteerism. The timeline below demonstrates the contribution of Dow employees in the Philippines.

March 25, 2020: Dow Consumer Solutions team worked with their customers to donate Dow Xiameter silicone additives to produce up to 44,000 liters of sanitizers which were all donated to hospitals and medical frontliners.

March 30, 2020: Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics sales and technical representatives provided supply and technical support by donating ELITE™ Polyethylene resins and collaborating with customer Cygnus to produce specialty construction films, while Dow Consumer Solutions ™ sales representatives worked with local distributors to donate silicone sealants. Together they were used to construct seventy-five Emergency Quarantine Facilities built across Metro Manila and its suburbs, with a total bed capacity of 1,000 COVID-19 patients. After nearly two years, these facilities continue to serve quarantined patients while serving as vaccination centers.

April 20, 2020: Food relief packages were distributed to 1,350 families in Las Pinas City in collaboration with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) and Caritas. Apart from this, Dow employees on their own initiative provided community pantries and relief goods to their neighbors.

May 6 and August 28, 2020: Dow with the help of the Philippine Business for Social Progress twice provided PPEs for medical front liners in Las Pinas General Hospital. The hospital is in the frontline of the city’s COVID-19 effort, in the city that has hosted Dow’s site for over fifty years.

April 22, 2021: In collaboration with Envirotech, Dow provided a bicycle bike rack made of waste plastics to the Philippine General Hospital for the use of medical front liners we have been using bicycles during the pandemic. Dow volunteers from admin, supply chain and different functions collaborated to deliver the bike rack from Davao city to Metro Manila.

April 27, 2021: Dow together with Flour Philippines and the Philippine Business for Social Progress collaborated by donating ICU equipment to the Ospital ng Muntinlupa to expand their ICU capacity and capabilities for COVID-19 patients.

Oct 30, 2020, February 10, 2021, November 2021: Dow worked with Sentinel Plastic and the Philippine Business for Social Progress to produce school chairs made of waste plastics that provides social distancing barriers in preparation for the opening of schools in the future. Dow’s upcycled chairs were donated to 9 remote schools across the Philippines in three tranches from October 20 to November 2021.

January 17, 2022: On Martin Luther King Day of Service, Dow employee volunteers prepared care kits for under-represented members our community in Las Pinas and Muntinlupa, affected by the latest surge of COVID-19 in the Philippines.
